Meet Tor from our small charity team

We are celebrating each member of our wonderful, small but mighty team. This month, we interviewed our Events and Fundraising Support Manager, Tor.

Tor started by volunteering with us and later joined our team in November 2025. We asked her the questions below so that you can learn more about her and her role.

What’s your favourite way to start the workday?

“Always with a massive mug of tea! I love it when we are all at LL HQ (which doesn’t happen loads as we are always in and out!) and we are all chatting and making our drinks to start the day. It’s the best way to get going for the day!”

What does a typical day look like for you?

“That’s a tricky one – no two days are really the same! If I have an event coming up, then prep for that, which involves packing things to take, finalising details, making calls and organising volunteers. On my Trusts and Foundations days, it’s usually a quick check of the emails, then headphones in and focusing on our many and very varied applications! If I am in the office, then I like to pop in and say hi to the volunteers – they are always so friendly and happy.”

What do you love the most about your role?

“The variety and the people. I’m definitely someone who is fuelled by people, so a busy day with everyone in the team here is my favourite thing. Working in events, I get to spend a lot of time with our fantastic community, and that is really special.”

What's one work task you secretly enjoy more than you should?

“I LOVE a spreadsheet! Formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting – I’m such a geek. I also love tidying up the Events Room!”

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received at work?

“Make the time to stop and really listen. It can be difficult when the to-do list is long, and lots of things are happening at once, but taking the time to listen to others is so important.”

What three words would your team use to describe you?

“Enthusiastic, organised, and chatty.”

What does Little Lifts mean to you?

“Little Lifts is more than a place to work. It is a team and community of very special people, working together to make a meaningful difference to people when they need it most.”
