A chat with volunteers

Without our volunteers Little Lifts simply wouldn't be able to support as many people as we do. Learn more about Sian and Tor below.

Sian

How did you start volunteering?

I was given a Little Lifts Box when I went for my chemotherapy oncology appointment. Because of that my daughter got involved with the charity by running marathons and I decided I’d like to give back some of my time. I saw that a Little Lifts’ photoshoot was taking place and put myself forward for it. I then met Shopie where we spoke about volunteering. I was sent forms and filled them in. It was great to chat to Shopie one to one, as I’m not good at putting myself forward.

What do you do when you volunteer?

I have done lot’s of different things like packing Boxes, packing tote bags, the Fashion Show, restocking the shelves, workshops and the photoshoot.

Why do you volunteer at Little Lifts?

I’ve benefited from it and I would like to be part of helping other people that will be in my position.

What’s your favourite part about volunteering?

I love being with the people here and love to be doing something different.

How did you start volunteering?

A couple of my friends received Little Lifts Boxes and I also saw the Little Lifts van around the countryside. I have some spare time and so wanted to support a local charity. I started volunteering after I dropped them a message on Instagram. I introduced myself and what time I could offer. Shopie requested to follow up with an email, then phone call and after I came in to meet her.

What do you do when you volunteer?

Pack Boxes, restock shelves and get Boxes ready for postage.

Why do you volunteer at Little Lifts?

Because it’s a local charity and helping get the message out. My daughter is really keen to do a packing party with her sixth form friends. I think it’s so important to get the message out from a young age to check your breasts.

What’s your favourite part about volunteering?

The team; they are lovely, dynamic and friendly. As well as meeting the other lovely volunteers.
