Fashion Show – Fun, fresh and fabulous!

The Little Lifts and John Lewis Fashion Show, a fashion show with a difference.

All of our models have been affected by breast cancer and kindly volunteered their time to take part in this fantastic evening. It was a wonderful follow up from our last fashion show and just as empowering as the last. Thank you to each and every person who cheered on our incredible community.

Our amazing events guru Shopie organised the fashion show with John Lewis raising over three thousand pounds! There were over 160 guests and 17 models showcasing three themes of summer wear.

Our models were pampered having their makeup, skincare and hair done by John Lewis along with GHD Norwich, Bea Coloured and Courage Noble. They were also provided with refreshments, areas to relax during the day and some lovely goodie bags. All of these lovely touches meant our models felt really special and after giving their time it was really important we were able to give something back to them.

The show was located at ‘The Benugo Cafe’ where the space underwent a huge transformation in less than a few hours. From spectacular handmade flower walls to divide the runway, lanterns and plants hanging from the ceiling to floral decals with our logogram lining the runway floor, every detail was covered. Of course, there was also the logistic of bringing all of the models clothes to a different space along with seating for more than 160 people! What a fantastic team, we were absolutely blown away with how stunning this space was!

Each guest was greeted by our Founder Oa and Trustee Karyn followed by the Norwich School for Girls Orchestra and mingled whilst taking their seats lining the runway. Our incredible models strutted down the catwalk in blooming day wear, summer holiday attire and summer night garden party outfits – the photos speak for themselves! A special thanks go to Liz, Sharon and Oa for sharing their stories.

Events like these are an absolute privilege for us to host. Being able to see our incredible models being cheered on and feeling empowered is very moving. Our wonderful models offered to take part, many of them felt out of their comfort zones and nervous before they walked the runway. So, to see them glowing, smiling and feeling confident during and after the show was amazing. Our models commented on how fantastic our guests were, creating an environment full of love for when our models hit the runway. This event was a lovely opportunity for our community to be championed whilst seeing the impact our small but mighty charity makes. We are so fortunate to be able to do events that bring our community together and are continuously so grateful for everyone’s support.

Following quotes are from our wonderful models who are either beneficiaries or family of beneficiaries:

‘Little Lifts brought a ray of light on a cloudy day. The Boxes come from a place of understanding, compassion and respect with such luxurious treats. Suddenly, I felt an element of empowerment and control at a time when life as I knew it had been turned upside down. So grateful to be part of this amazing community and I look forward to being able to give back!’ – Nia

‘Little Lifts gave me happiness, friends and a warm hug when I was at my lowest ebb. Thank you always x’ – Liz

‘My wife was one of the first people to receive a Box and after her treatment she spent a lot of time helping and getting involved in various events. Unfortunately we lost Charlotte in 2019 but myself and Hannah (Charlotte’s daughter) still spend time helping where we can, as we know how the Little Lifts Boxes are such a good thing in helping in a way you won’t know unless you go through it yourself.’ – Rob

‘Having lost my wife and a daughter to breast cancer, I am happy to help anyone suffering some of the trauma cancer causes to an individual or family. I know from personal experience what a Little Lifts Box can do to support a cancer sufferer. What I personally am able to do is but a small contribution to the enormous efforts of the Little Lifts Team in spreading a little joy to people finding themselves in a very dark place and hoping to shed a measure of light at a life changing time.’ – Graham

In April I started volunteering for this small but mighty charity because I wanted to give back anything I could/can to thank them for MY lift and support others going through treatment for breast cancer.

TODAY… I had THE best day modelling in the Little Lifts Summer Fashion Show at John Lewis – Norwich.

It’s been very humbling, I’ve met such lovely people from the staff, models and supporters.

I’ve busted through comfort zones worn clothes I’d never have picked for myself, had my makeup done by the lovely Kelly at Clarins and hair done by the awesome Ashleen at GHD – wow!

I was also (SO) lucky to have my very own tribe supporting me this evening (surprises all round!)…

Thank you ALL from (once again) the bottom of my very humble heart!’ – Amy
