It was an honour for our Founder, Oa, to attend alongside Kay (Finance and Business Support Manager who has been with Little Lifts since the start), Trustee Jill (who received her breast cancer gift Box in 2018 and has helped develop our Little Kindness Fund), and Jenny (who was there on behalf of our outstanding Corporate Partner, Sinclair, who does so much for us).
The four attended on behalf of our most special Little Lifts Community, and you were with us in spirit. When The King learned of our work, he gave us a message to pass onto our community:
“As your charity offers such great support, please go back to your community and thank them for their commitment and hard work.”
‘It felt such a huge privilege to represent Little Lifts at the palace, and so proud to have our work recognised by The King. The laugher and chat with the King was the unexpected surprise. It was a truly memorable occasion, the evening just brimming with kindness.
A lone moment of reflection standing in the grand surroundings of The Ballroom, realising how far we have travelled together from those early days, the journey of our small but mighty charity has been astonishing.’
Jill Ward, Little Lifts Trustee
‘In recognition of all the support Sinclair gives Little Lifts, I was fortunate to be chosen from a ballot to accompany the Founder, Oa Hackett, and members of the Little Lifts team to Buckingham Palace. It was an incredible day, surrounded by inspiring individuals and charities dedicated to helping people through the most challenging of times. The ballroom at Buckingham Palace was filled with an amazing energy, radiating positivity, hope, and a celebration of community-based cancer support. A day I will never forget.’
Jenny Parton, Communications Manager at Sinclair International
‘Being invited to Buckingham Palace to meet The King, alongside colleagues and friends, was such an honour. Having been with Little Lifts from the start, and seeing it grow from Oa and me in her house, to a team of eight staff, 74 volunteers and three packing rooms, it was incredible to have our small but mighty charity recognised and selected to join the likes of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan in The Ballroom at Buckingham Palace. It was so inspiring to be surrounded by so many individuals working to support people affected by cancer, and to be a part of the occasion was a moment which will stay with me.’
Kay Phoenix, Finance and Business Support Manager at Little Lifts
The evening was filled with kindness and appreciation for all the great work of so many people and organisations working hard to support the cancer community; it was truly inspiring!
