On a sunny summer evening, we hosted our annual Volunteer Summer Picnic, bringing together some of the most special members of our breast cancer charity community and their loved ones.
Our annual summer picnic has become a popular gathering, and a special opportunity for our 80-plus volunteers to get together and enjoy each other’s company. Everyone brings a dish to share and a camping chair, and we enjoy a wonderful few hours in the sunshine eating delicious food and swapping stories from the year.

Our volunteers pack our Boxes daily. They complete copious amounts of Box preparation such as wrapping cutlery, stocking shelves, building the Boxes for products to go in, and putting together thousands of little treats. They bravely share their own experience of receiving a Little Lifts Box at events, stands and talks, helping us convey to others the real impact of Little Lifts.
They drive our van, Hope, to our 10 hospital partnerships across the East of England, so the amazing NHS staff there can give out our Boxes to breast cancer patients directly. They help us fundraise by hosting events, which allows us to support even more people going through breast cancer treatment. And they support us behind the scenes at our annual events, such as the Trail Run, spending several hours out in all weathers to make sure our runners are safe and know where they’re going.

Everything our volunteers do does not go unnoticed. Their invaluable contribution to our vision — that no one should face breast cancer alone — is an integral part of Little Lifts. We simply couldn’t support and spread kindness to breast cancer patients across the UK without them.
We love the community they’ve built with us, and it’s evenings like this one that really make our Little Lifts community so special!
