Launch of The little Kindness Fund

We have some exciting news to share!

Some of you may have heard on the grapevine that we’ve recently launched The little Kindness Fund. It’s a discretionary fund for those undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment for primary or secondary breast cancer in England and Wales.

We already support breast cancer patients at five major NHS hospitals in East Anglia, but times have been extremely challenging for many. Here at littlelifts, we’ve received a huge amount of interest since the pandemic from breast cancer patients outside the region enquiring how they can receive access to a littlelifts box too.

We are so grateful to one of our sponsors, the wonderful Harriet from Spacemasks. If it wasn’t for Harriet, The little Kindness Fund wouldn’t have launched so soon. You see, those facing cancer treatment are clinically extremely vulnerable and at high risk from COVID-19.

Unfortunately, support systems and networks have been harder to access for many since the pandemic.

We’ve seen a very real and tangible impact of our littlelifts boxes on women undergoing breast cancer treatment. However, it isn’t just what’s inside the box that provides support. Recipients tell us that the sense of solidarity and kindness they experience is equally valuable, and right now, kindness matters. We are thrilled to be extending our service to support more women, and now men, across England and Wales, to help them through these remarkably tough times.

Harriet from Spacemasks told us, “I love supporting littlelifts because a cancer diagnosis is frightening enough without then being thrown into all the side effects of treatment. Knowing what’s to be expected might make the whole experience a little less daunting and the fact that so much care and attention has gone into each and every item in the littlelifts boxes will make patients feel less alone. I only wish they’d been around when my late mother was having her chemotherapy and radiotherapy.”

We’ve launched the fund by initially releasing 750 littlelifts boxes over the coming weeks, and with a target to support up to 5,000 women and men nationwide within the next 12 months. Both women and men can apply for a box by simply completing an application form on our website.

But we do need your support to broaden our reach. So we’re asking UK-wide businesses and individuals to consider donating or hosting fundraisers to further support the reach of The little Kindness Fund over the coming months. People can find out more about how to become involved via our website, or donate directly to the fund here.

Do spread the word. We’d love it if you’d share the link for our online form on social media. Share the love and encourage loved ones across England and Wales to apply.

Stay well,

Oa x
