Emma's breast cancer story

Emma’s Breast Cancer Story

Say hello to lovely Emma, who received her gift Boxes for breast cancer through our hospital partner.

Emma’s breast cancer story

Emma was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2023. She underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and other ongoing treatment.

Emma received both a Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Box from our hospital partner, The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

What Emma said about her Little Lifts Boxes

‘It was absolutely fantastic. All of the little treats you can rummage through, but the most important thing is that it made you feel like you were not alone.’

Emma and The Little Lifts Fashion Show

Emma first reached out to us after receiving her Chemotherapy Box, with a lovely photo and kind words. We were thrilled when she later commented on our fashion show post, asking, “Will any of the models be flat?” We immediately reached out and invited her to participate. Emma, who had a double mastectomy, responded with heartfelt enthusiasm, saying it was “an honour to represent us ‘flatties’.”

As she reached the end of the runway, she removed her blazer and turned around to a room full of love. Just moments earlier, she had shared her story and her desire to represent a body type that is often overlooked. That night, it was celebrated. We stood, we cheered, we cried. As she walked back towards the crowd, the atmosphere was electric, powerful, and deeply moving.

‘I took part in the Little Lifts Fashion Show at John Lewis. I wanted to represent everyone out there that had decided not to have reconstruction and that were living with a flat closure after their double mastectomy and see what fun we could have with it. I could not believe the response. It was absolutely incredible. When I turned around at the end of the catwalk and a few people started to stand up, it was an absolutely unbelievable feeling and it gave much such a confidence boost. Thank you so much to everyone out there for that and well done to everyone involved.’ – Emma

Emma and Little Lifts

Emma is a brilliant champion of Little Lifts and a very special member of our community.

After receiving her Little Lifts Boxes, Emma decided she would like to get involved and support our small charity.

She has done it all, speaking at our Ball in front of 360 guests, being photographed (on multiple occasions!), designing our Christmas cards, writing support articles and volunteering every week to help us support our community fundraisers.

We cannot thank her enough for her kindness, support and for always bringing a smile to HQ.
