Hayley’s Story

Say hello to lovely Hayley who received a Chemotherapy Box through our hospital partner, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 2019.

Hayley is married with 3 children aged 23, 21 and 15. Her youngest child was 10 when she was diagnosed. All three of her children were fantastic at supporting her, along with her friends and family. They have two spaniels who they love to take out, spending time on the Norfolk Broads and enjoying a glass of wine out in the sun.

After being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in October 2018, Hayley had her first centile lymph node removed which came back positive for cancer. On the 25th of January 2019 she had a single mastectomy and a total lymph node clearance. Followed by 6 rounds chemotherapy, beginning on the 25th of March – Hayley’s birthday! This was followed by radiotherapy and finally a reconstruction on the 1st of December 2021.
What Hayley said about receiving her Little Lifts Box:

‘That I’m not alone, someone understands what you are going through and the fact that someone had taken the time to make these fabulous Boxes to help at such a tough time in someone’s life is incredible. I loved it all! Absolutely everything in the Box was designed to help and support someone going through treatment, I particularly loved the MooGoo lotion, it worked a treat and is completely natural!’

Hayley’s Top Tips:

Stay positive, get out, go for a walk, enjoy nature and embrace the hair loss as it comes back even better!

Hayley raised a phenomenal £1405 doing her wing walk in memory of her of her lovely friend Louise Keeley, one of our beneficiaries.

‘Louise and I travelled our breast cancer journey together, but unfortunately Louise lost her battle in February 2022.

While on our treatment journey, we both got given a fantastic Box from Little Lifts, who are a non-profit organisation, supporting people going through breast cancer. The Box was full of everything we could possibly need to help alleviate some of the side effects that may be experienced during chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy treatment. Louise was always up for a challenge, so my ‘Lou’s challenge’ is to complete a wing walk.’

You should be so proud of yourself for taking on this amazing challenge. We cannot thank you enough for helping us to support more people with breast cancer and for sharing your story with us.
