Liz’s Breast Cancer Story

Say hello to lovely Liz who received her Little Lifts Chemotherapy Gift Box through the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital to support her during her breast cancer treatment.

Our lovely beneficiary and volunteer Liz received her Care Box Box in March 2022 following her breast cancer diagnosis.

‘I’m 67, retired from the hospitality trade, married to Mike – my best friend! Do lots of volunteering – Little Lifts, Norwich Foodbank and Riding for the Disabled.
Love holidaying, spending time in the garden, being with family and friends, keeping myself fit and generally enjoying life!’

Liz was diagnosed with a DCIS (a mass the size of an orange) following a routine mammogram in December 2021. She had no lumps, bumps or pain. Her lymph node removal showed that her cancer had not spread. She had a mastectomy in January 2022 and began chemotherapy treatment in March 2022.
After receiving her Gift Box Liz said she felt:

‘That someone cared and the products inside were so thoughtful. They certainly helped me through the horrible time. Everything that was put in, helped in some way just to make things a bit easier.’ She particularly enjoyed the MooGoo cream and chocolate.

We love welcoming Liz into Little Lifts HQ where she helps us with all things Gift Box related! Liz also kindly took part in our November Fashion Show where she bravely shared her breast cancer story with over 200 people.

‘Just keep doing what you are doing Little Lifts – you are all so inspirational, so professionally run, so well organised and I love my volunteering with you!
Because of the demand you’ll always be needed x’
Liz’s Top Tips for breast cancer treatment:
  • Listen to your body, rest, rest, rest. If going through chemo take the anti sickness medication.
  • Try and get a little walk each day – it does help
  • Drink lots of water and if you fancy a gin – then have one!
Thank you so much for sharing your story, experience of receiving your Gift Box and your kind support. It means so much to our small but mighty team!
