Trish’s Breast Cancer Story

Say hello to lovely Trish, one of our fantastic beneficiaries, champions and volunteers. She first got involved after receiving our Radiotherapy Box during her experience of breast cancer.

Trish’s breast cancer story

Trish received what she likes to joke was a ‘lovely Christmas present’ of a breast cancer diagnosis in December of 2020. Nine weeks later, she was being prepped for surgery. In 2021, she had a lumpectomy, a second surgery and then began radiotherapy treatment. She was treated at our partner hospital, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Upon starting her radiotherapy treatment, Trish described herself as being ‘very frightened’. It was then, before she began radiotherapy, that she was presented with her Little Lifts Radiotherapy Box.

What Trish said about her Little Lifts Box

Trish says the Box meant the world to her and that receiving it made her feel ’emotional, and not alone’, telling us she loved the ‘thoughtfulness behind the products’. Her favourite item from her Box was a token that reminded her to ‘be kind to yourself’.

Trish said, ‘I’ve wanted to give back. If I just gave back a portion of what Little Lifts has done for me, I’d be very grateful.’

Trish has done that and then some! She’s done it all for at Little Lifts! Box packing, fundraising over £500, sharing her story with our community, pretty much anything you can think of…

She was even a model in our Fashion Show with John Lewis, a model for our Bakes for Kindness photoshoot and spoke in front of over 300 people at our annual Ball.

We cannot thank her enough for her belief, dedication and support. We are so grateful to Trish for going above and beyond to ensure that we can continue spreading kindness to others like her, who are affected by breast cancer. You are such an inspiring light that we feel privileged to have in our community.

We would also like to give a big shout-out to her husband, Leon. Who Trish describes as her ‘rock’. Leon is with her every step of the way and has jumped into our Little Lifts Community with such enthusiasm. He represents us at community events, was a model for our Bakes for Kindness photoshoot, drives our van, and is also always there to support Trish. Thank you!
