Skincare tips to support you during breast cancer treatment

Looking for tips to support your skincare routine during breast cancer treatment? We have collated some resources to help you get started!

We were inspired by a lovely member of our Little Lifts Community who wanted to give her mum a pamper evening but was unsure about what was suitable for her during breast cancer treatment.

Skincare and breast cancer

People receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment may experience dry, red, irritated and sensitive skin which can be uncomfortable and painful.

Skincare products

Finding products that have skin soothing, hydrating and repair properties can help. Try looking for:

  • Natural product
  • Unscented items
  • pH-neutral
  • Moisturiser
  • SPF 50 suncream

Products you might like to avoid

  • Harsh foaming products
  • Exfoliating acids
  • Retinoids
  • Abrasive cloths or sponges,
  • Hot water (use warm instead)
  • Products containing alcohol

Keep your routine simple

Mini facial with Nicci

We took our lovely volunteer and beneficiary Sharon for a gentle mini facial with amazing Nicci, Tropic Amabassador. Nicci picked products and a routine that was simple, with breast cancer treatment in mind, focusing on cleansing, moisturising and protecting the skin.

Her picks:

Tropic products are natural, unscented, pH-neutral and kind to the environment. All important properties of skincare during breast cancer treatment.

A big thank you to Nicci for her amazing support, nicolafountain50@gmail.com.

Using products from your breast cancer gift Box

Time out for a pamper from someone else or yourself can also benefit your wellbeing, helping to aid relaxation and rest.

We have products that feature across our Boxes which you could use on your next pamper night!

Cleanser, moisturiser, lip balm, pulse point roller, candle, soap bar, bamboo cloth

Brands we love:

Spacemasks – Harriet is our patron and even raises money with her Little Lifts heated eye mask!

MooGoo Skincare – They have a whole oncology range.

Beam – Natural soap and skincare, Amy supports our work with a gift set.

Q&A – All natural, product lead and simplified skincare.

Yare Valley Oils – All natural cosmetics.

Remember not all products maybe suitable for you. If you are unsure, check products with your breast care/medical team.
